Top 5 Wednesday- 2017 Goals!

Hi everyone!

I am so amazed with how much positive feedback I’ve had on this blog after only about two weeks. I am so thankful for all of the support you guys have given me on this new project. I’ve only posted one book review so far, but I have two more in my drafts ready to be posted. I seriously love writing reviews and I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to start a blog.

In the past two weeks I have written my first blog post, book review, and TBR. I’ve been able to do a ton of fun research on new book releases and authors. I’ve even been sent my first ARC! I am so excited for what this year is going to have in store for me if just the first two weeks of blogging have been so rewarding.

On that note, I want to do my very first installation of a Book Meme (!!) called Top 5 Wednesday. If you would like more information on this project, you can click here to be taken to the Goodreads group page. Essentially, there is a new topic every single Wednesday to post your top 5 of. I though this would be a great way for me to be able to interact with my readers and fellow bloggers, and to post more personal things every week.

So, for the week of January 4th, the prompt is: 2017 Goals
–These do not need to be reading goals specifically, they can be any goals you want to talk about. Reading goals, blog/channel/instagram goals, personal goals…anything!

So here we go… My top five goals for 2017.

  1. Read at least two non-school books each month. — This one is not going to be easy you guys. I have to read a lot for school. I’m an English major and American history minor. We read a ton of books each semester. I really want to try and read two extra books a month, because I want to be able to do reviews for this blog. This is probably my biggest goal for the new year.
  2. Blog at least once a week. — I’ve literally just started blogging. Right now I’m on semester break, and I still have about a week and a half left. I’ve been able to post quite a bit. However, I want to keep posting like crazy when school gets underway! I’m planning to make myself post at least once a week so that I don’t fall behind. I’m hoping these Top 5 prompts will help me to at least post on Wednesdays, plus whatever book reviews I do.Screen Shot 2017-01-04 at 2.00.16 PM.png
  3.  Strive for straight A’s. — I struggled quite a bit with my grades in my first year of college. It was much harder than I was expecting and I was taking a lot of classes I am just not good at, like math and science. That in combination with many health issues meant that my grades were not anywhere near where I wanted them to be. However, this past semester, I received straight A’s for the first time since middle school! I was and currently am so proud of myself. I know that things can happen, but I really want to strive to get straight A’s the next two semesters, especially since I know now that I am capable.
  4. Write more. — This one is just a bit of a cop-out, since I know I will be taking multiple writing workshops in school over the next  year. I’m pretty much going to have to write more. But I still count it, because it’s something I’ve always wanted to do, and I’m very excited to be able to throw myself into my writing in the coming year in a way I haven’t done in a long time.
  5. Join a club or activity. — In high school I was copy editor of the newspaper, editor of the literary magazine, and worked on the yearbook staff. I actually met my best friend/roommate through those activities. I loved doing all of those activities, but as I mentioned before, things got really tough for me when I got to college. However, now that things are really working out for me and I’m establishing myself much better, I think I’m ready to join in some kind of activity. If you have any suggestions for me, you should leave them in the comments!

Alright, those are my top 5 goals/resolutions for the coming year. Writing this was actually almost therapeutic. I tried my best to be realistic with myself and my abilities while still– (excuse the cliche, I know it’s sickening, but I want to use it) shooting for the moon.

But hey, if I miss, I’ll still land among the stars 😉

All best,

  1. Good luck with your goals! I struggled in my first year of college too, but it definitely has gotten easier as I’ve gotten more used to college. Congrats on getting straight A’s, that’s awesome. 🙂
